Daniels nominated to attend and participate in the White House sponsored United State of Women Summit

Loretta Daniels, instructor of Leadership and current member of the Presidential Commission on Gender and Work Life Issues, was honored to accept the nomination to attend the first summit on The United State of Women.
On Tuesday, June 14, the White House convened the first-ever United State of Women Summit to mark the progress made by and for women and girls domestically and internationally over the course of this Administration and to discuss solutions to the challenges they still face. The event featured remarks by the President and Vice President, a conversation with the First Lady, and much more. Sponsored by the White House, the summit represented an important moment for women and girls, as well as for all proponents of gender justice and equality. Distinguished speakers included a host of social-minded celebrities such Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington and many others.
Over 5000 women gathered to hear about the struggles girls and women face today and to share their initiatives to rectify the problems as well as offer solutions.
Daniels, along with Elizabeth Boyd, assistant professor of management and research director in the Women’s Leadership Center at KSU, were two of 10,000 nominees to attend of which only a few received the actual invitation. “To be one of the 10,000 nominated and personally invited to attend the inaugural United State of Women summit was an honor. I was grateful for the experience,” said Daniels.
