UC Searches

Last week Dean Keisha Hoerrner provided us with updates regarding searches within the college, along with the following updates:

1. Lecturer in Leadership Studies - We are pleased to announce that Dr. Felicia Mainella has accepted our offer and will be joining the Department of Leadership and Integrative Studies in August. Dr. Mainella received a Ph.D. in Counseling & Personnel Services with a concentration in Leadership Development and Ethics from the University of Maryland in 2003. She's held faculty positions at William Peace University and Virginia Commonwealth University, and she was the Director of the Center for Student Leadership and Public Service at Bradley University.

2. Assistant Professor in the Leven School - We are excited that Dr. Diana Barber has accepted our offer and will be joining the Leven School of Culinary Sustainability and Hospitality in August. Dr. Barber holds a J.D. from Mercer University and will bring more than a decade of teaching experience at Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business and three decades of hospitality law experience to the Leven School including numerous years as the Vice President and Associate General Counsel for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

3. Leven Distinguished Chair - The search committee is currently reviewing applications for this endowed professorship position, and we are hopeful we will be announcing on-campus interview dates in the next four weeks.

4. Assistant Professor in First-Year and Transition Studies - We have completed two on-campus interviews and will be welcoming a third candidate to campus.

5. Chair, Department of Leadership and Integrative Studies - Dr. Becky Casey has announced her retirement after decades of dedicated service to the department. She will retire May 31. As I said to the department, this is bittersweet for those of us honored to call Becky a colleague and friend, but we are thrilled for her and her family. I have named a search committee, and the position announcement is on the KSU employment website (https://facultyjobs.kennesaw.edu/postings/2858) and in the Chronicle of Higher Education. Dr. Ruth Goldfine is chairing the search committee, and Dr. Joan Dominick, Dr. Nyasha GuramatunhuCooper, Dr. Tom Yannuzzi, and Dr. Robin Cheramie (Chair of Management & Entrepreneurship in the Coles College) are serving as members. The goal is to complete the search by the end of spring semester, but that is entirely dependent on having a robust candidate pool. Please share the position announcement within your professional networks.

6. INTS Adviser - Dr. Ree Howard has also announced her retirement, effective May 31. We will miss Ree's dedication to students, but we are excited for her and her family. Due to the significant increase in INTS majors, we are reconfiguring Ree's position from a faculty position to a professional adviser. That search will begin in the next several weeks.

7. Associate Dean - I hope each of you had a chance to meet Dr. Leroy Hamilton today and are planning to meet with Dr. Lynn Stallings Monday. Your feedback is essential to the committee as it finalizes its work in the next two weeks.

8. Transitions Coordinator - We received word that the posting is available for the Transitions Coordinator position in Orientation and Transition Programs (https://kennesaw.hiretouch.com/job-details?jobID=20001&job=coordinator-transition-programs). Please share the posting with interested individuals. We are excited to welcome a new member to the OTP team before the end of spring semester.

9. SMART Center, Assistant Director - We are saying goodbye to Lindsey Shaughnessy next Friday, who is currently serving as the Assistant Director of the SMART Center on the Marietta Campus. We appreciate her enthusiastic service and wish her well in her future endeavors. The posting for the position is on the KSU website (https://kennesaw.hiretouch.com/job-details?jobID=17961&job=marietta-campus-tutoring-coordinator), and we are striving for a quick hiring process given the number of students utilizing the SMART Center's services on the Marietta campus.
