Get to know the UC's Supplemental Instruction program

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) program began its second post-consolidation semester with 58 SI leaders serving 23 different courses for a total of 91 sections and 6,656 students. In addition to their accomplishments in the SI program, many SI leaders have received other noteworthy recognitions:

 

Hannah Forsberg won an “Emerging Writers” essay contest, which resulted in the inclusion of her essay in the English 1101 and 1102 textbook used during the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters.

 

Justin Farmer was inducted into the 2016 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. This national recognition program honors outstanding college students annually for their scholastic, co-curricular, leadership, and community achievements.

 

Kurt Jacobson, a senior mechanical engineering student minoring in nuclear engineering, was named the Georgia Engineering Technology Student of the Year by the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers.

 

Samantha Morgan was named the Outstanding Dual Enrollment Student for 2015-2016. This award is given to the student in the Dual Enrollment Honors Program (DEHP) with the most credits, honors credits, and highest GPA.

 

 Kathryn Hedlund was nominated for membership in The Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement (SCLA), a multidisciplinary honor society that recognizes the achievements of high-achieving college students.

 

Carolyn Hoard was invited to join the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.

 

Additionally, twenty-two SI leaders were named to the President’s list for the fall 2015 semester.
