Another successful First-Year Convocation

This year's annual First-Year Convocation and Induction ceremony was KSU’s 15th such event. The convocation speaker, KSU alum Yvette Peagues, was mesmerizing, giving a moving keynote that chronicled her struggles and triumphs as a professional speaker, teacher, author, advocate, TV host and Founder/CTO (Chief Transformation Officer) of Your Invisible Disability Group and the current 1st Ms. Wheelchair International 2016/2017.
The success of this event was dependent upon the collaborative efforts of our many campus partners. In particular, we are grateful to:
-
the President's Office for funding and supporting this annual event;
-
the Platform Party, for taking the time to join us in welcoming our first-year students;
-
the members of the First-Year Convocation planning committee, who represent the many units across campus involved in Convocation; and
-
most of all, our campus volunteers -- students, staff, faculty and alumni -- who gave of their time to assist with the many day-of activities that ensured the smooth running of the event.
We also appreciate the faculty members who participated in the processional, providing a strong show of faculty support for our class of 2020 first-year students at this once-in-a-lifetime ceremony.
