Student Achievements
Thriver awarded $4,500 scholarship from Cobb County Farm Bureau
​
Sophomore Thriver Brandon Kirk was awarded a $4,500 scholarship by the Cobb County Farm Bureau for the 2016-17 academic year.
​
​While Kirk's major at KSU is in Business, he is incorporating Culinary Sustainability and Hospitality courses into his degree program.
​
KSU Junior and Thriver selected for a fall 2016 Internship with the CW Atlanta
​
​Alexandria Johnson, a member of the Thrive program, was selected for a fall 2016 internship with Atlanta CW69 Atlanta.
​
​​​Johnson currently majors in Communication with a concentration in Media Studies and a minor in Engagement Marketing.
​
​​Former ESBA students accepted into graduate school
​
Former Early Start Bridge Academy (ESBA) students, Lauren Harper and Kameron Buckner have been accepted into graduate school
​
Both Harper and Buckner participated in KSU's ESBA program during its inaugural year in 2008.
​Harper recently completed the first year of her doctoral studies at the University of Georgia where she is currently pursuing a doctorate in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology. After completing a Bachelors degree at KSU, Harper went on to a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in May 2015 where she served as an intern in the Student Counseling Office at Southern Polytechnic State University. Harper is now a certified rehabilitation counselor.​
​
Buckner recently received her letter of acceptance to Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.
Culinary Sustainability and Hospitality major awarded scholarship
​Monique Allen, a Culinary Sustainability and Hospitality major, received a Spring 2016 scholarship award.
​
​Allen was awarded a $3,000 scholarship for Spring 2016 from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
​
Georgia Food Industry Association awards scholarship to CSH student
​
​Will Howard, a Culinary Sustainability and Hospitality major, was the recipient of the Georgia Food Industry Association (GFIA) scholarship award.
​
​The good news kept coming for Howard. He also received notification of his acceptance into a summer program at the Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne Summer Academy offers a seven-day program designed to develop knowledge of hospitality through a mix of practical and theoretical activities.

INTS major to participate in the Atlantis Project
​Integrative Studies (INTS) major Charisse Allen participated in the Atlantis Project last summer. The project is geared towards those who are interested in Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health.
​
The INTS student notified Michael Keleher, director of Integrative Studies, of this exciting news. Allen received a summer internship to shadow doctors across different specialties. Interns in this program also teach locals conversational English.
